This is the introductory course for the interdisciplinary field of Women's Studies Gender Studies.  It is based upon the new scholarship in women's and men's studies, and encompasses a range of disciplines.  We examine femininity, masculinity and emerging gender identities in relation to the larger social relations of women's and men's movements and those on the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender-queer spectrum.

The approach we use in this class begins from students' experience and deepens the connection to the social relations of Canadian culture and society.  I promote active learning which involves you in a process of reflection on your community, family, the media and knowledge of your own gender location as a woman, man, non-binary, transgendered or two spirited individual.
