A course asking about the meaning and purpose of modern technology and the way it interacts with our understanding of human nature.

This seminar will consider the formulations of the “problem” of Socrates in Aristophanes, Kierkegaard, and Nietzsche, before turning to Plato’s representation of the trials of Socrates—the civil, or political trial, to be sure, but also the “philosophical”  trial offered by the dialogues depicting his final days.
