This course introduces the methods used by psychologists to conduct research. Topics will include a comprehensive coverage of the scientific method, ethics governing psychological research, basic and technical aspects of measuring behaviour, the logic of experimental design, single factor and factorial designs, and an introduction to correlational research. The course also involves familiarization with the standards outlined in the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication manual – the established standard for all writing in psychology and in several other disciplines. Grades in this course will be based on performance on exams and assignments. Attendance is mandatory.
