This course is an in depth analysis of policy issues related to the criminal justice system in Canada. (Police, Prosecutions, Courts, and Corrections) Students will explore the roles and responsibilities of various levels of government departments and agencies, as well as the role of non governmental agencies and organizations directly or indirectly affiliated with the criminal justice system. Students will gain an understanding of how law is made; how policy is formulated ; linkages between political processes and the criminal justice system . The roles of the Federal Government and Provincial Governments in formulating policy and the administration of justice will be a key component of this course. Current critical issues influencing criminal justice policy will be explored .
