This course introduces students to a variety of topics on crime and media, with a particular focus on ways in which digital technologies introduce new intersections between crime and media. From the way in which the news constructs narratives about crime, to how television and film distort our perspectives about criminals and law enforcement, to how criminals and the police make use of social media, students will become familiar with a variety of perspectives and studies on the complex dynamics involved in how we experience crime through the media.
