What is a crime? How much of it is there? Who becomes a criminal? How can we understand the nature of crime? This course serves as an introduction to thinking criminologically about these questions and others that relate to the nature of crime in society. Students will learn about the discipline of criminology: its origins, the nature of disciplinary debates, and some of its theoretical issues and applications. This course focuses on introducing students to some major forms of criminal behaviour and typologies of crime.
