This 3-credit hour course will provide an overview of human development theories used in working with individuals across various age groups. By the time they have completed this third-year course, BSW students will be able to understand better and articulate how dominant developmental theories shape our understanding of human development and how the context of life course knowledge impacts the selection and application of theories for social work practice with infants, younger and older children, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults. Students are invited to develop further and articulate their integrated theoretical approach to social work practice with individuals of all age groups and their families.
