Introduction
to Social Welfare is a prerequisite for all students applying for admission
into a bachelor or master social work program.
This course will examine the history, philosophy, and development of social welfare as a social institution in Canada and globally, contextualized in changing political, economic and social conditions. Students will engage with critical thinking and analyse the institution and its relationship to the history, philosophy, and values of the profession of social work, as well as to contemporary social issues.
