Welcome to Chamber Music @ STU!
In this class, we perform, arrange, compose, conduct, and teach music. Scores are either composed/arranged by the participants or selected from any styles or historical periods and adapted to the skills of the individual students. Everybody is encouraged to explore new instruments and roles within the group (perform, compose, conduct, instruct). Because of COVID-19, we'll focus on duet and trio configurations (the computer will be the additional "performer") or, if you are away from campus, I'll coach you online, going over and/or rehearsing the music. In addition to that, we will be composing sketches for the Saint John String Quartet and woodwind quintet Ventus Machina. As an academic complement, we will continue studying the life and chamber music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Prerequisites: FNAR-1051 and FNAR-1023, or permission from the instructor.
