Section outline

  • By the end of this session you should:

    • Understand how novels allow us to bear witness to human rights violations and understand the importance of being able to do that.
    • Salvage The Bones is so rich in its storytelling that you feel a part of the Batiste family. By the end of the session, you should be able to look at the experiences of the Batiste family in context of outside of the novel and in our actual society and understand how socio-economic disparities impact some communities more than others in relation to environmental impacts (not just natural disasters), health issues, and even in terms of Covid-19.

Start by opening the Session Plan at the top of this section. Work through the session's activities, checking the on-screen box for those that require you to do so when they're complete.
